Nautilus #18 – Curly Redwood and Bubinga

I originally had the idea for this instrument back in October. This instrument features strikingly beautiful woods, and to keep them front and center, no crazy inays to distract from their beauty.

This instrument projects very well, and is almost impossible to overdrive — play it as hard as you can, and it stays meaty and focused. A slightly deeper body and a bubinga back balance nicely with the redwood top.

Specs:
– Curly maple sides and neck
– Bubinga back and neck center lamination
– Phenominal curly redwood top from Bruce Harvie
– Parallel braced soundboard, about .300″ in the center, if you can believe that
– “F Nouveau” sound holes – a brand new design, took me several weeks to get right
– 1 3/16″ neck width
– Slender C profile neck with 1/4″ x 3/8 reinforcement
– Glossy nitrocellulose lacquer finish
– Stripy ebony headstock overlay, fretboard, and tailpiece accents
– Jacobson machined aluminum tailpiece w/ integral harmonic suppressor
